There have been folks bathing in the Lake for a long time. Since most people have running water today, fewer are bathing, as Lake water has various little things in it depending on the season (pine pollen right now and some summer algae). As long as the soap that is used is phosphate-free, bathing is NOT harmful to the Lake or the fishery. In small quantities. In 1987 Lake Morey had significant brown algae problem due to phosphates leaching from I-91 construction and folks using phosphate ladden detergents, soaps and fertilizers. That problemm cost the Lake association more than a half a million to clean up.
